Ecclesiastical Babylon's Judgment

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who is seated on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and with the wine of whose sexual immorality the dwellers on earth have become drunk.” And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth's abominations.” And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. Revelation 17:1-6

The time has arrived for the judgment on Babylon, the great whore of ecclesiastical religion. This is an amalgam of the various world religions blended with false christianity, with all its empty ritual and phony trappings. The ancient satanic system was for thousands of years a counterfeit of the true gospel, with the mother-goddess and her mystical super-hero son. Hers was a cult of sexual depravity, and as the term “whore” implies, it offers whatever pleases the worshipper as incentive to indulge in her many lascivious practices. One such practice was the dedication of virgins to the gods, which was sanctified prostitution. Satan has made every effort to replace the true gospel message of complete salvation by faith in the finished work of the sinless savior with his own blasphemous “we’re all brothers and children of the same god” human-good religion. Keep people entertained, sexually sated and pleased with themselves and they will see no need to seek the salvation that is only in Jesus Christ. Truth is not important to her. She craves pleasure and power.

She sits upon many waters (peoples, nations). The kings of the earth have used her for their pleasure and they have been used by her. They have become drunk and made their people drunk on the wine of her sexual depravity. She rides the scarlet beast (Satanic world government). The wilderness (desert) is the place of drought, where one’s spiritual thirst cannot be quenched. The living water of the word of God is not available there. God’s truth is distorted, if mentioned at all. She is rich. She thrives on abdominal things (idolatries, occultism) and apostasy. She is clearly identified with religious whoredom and abomination, as first mentioned in Genesis chapter 10. She is drunk (power-mad) on the blood of the martyrs of the Old Testament and New Testament. She displays murderous hostility toward Jesus Christ and His Church.

When I saw her, I marveled greatly. But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come. This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast. They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.” Revelation 17:6-14

John was shocked and astonished by the sight of the whore. The beast she rides is the revived Roman empire. It had been dominant in John’s day, lost its power soon after and will return more powerful than ever, but for a short time, during the tribulation. The spiritually dead inhabitants of earth will be amazed by the sudden rise of this revived empire. The seven heads are former world powers that have dominated Israel. The horns are nations which make up the final world power.The whore is false world religion being supported by world government, under the authority of Satan.

And the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages. And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire, for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.” Revelation 17:15-18

The waters represent all peoples of the world. The consolidated powers (ten horns), having used the whore to their own advantage, no longer have need of her. They hate her. They have given their sovereignty to the beast, and he no longer has need of her. Goodbye, Babylon of ecumenical religion. Your services are no longer required.

I think it is time to point out that there is no indication that the United States of America figures in any of these prophecies. These prophecies are focused on the final seven years of the age of Israel, and that seat of operation is necessarily in and around Jerusalem. The dominant ecclesiastical power as well as the controlling political power are centered in western Europe. If the US still exists as a nation at that time, it will likely be as a satellite nation of the Revived Roman Empire, and any fallout they receive will come as part of the worldwide distribution of plagues.
