Interlopers Among the Saints

‎...certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

Jude 4-7

This is heavy, but we must not ignore it, brethren. Jude was one of the half-brothers of Jesus Christ. A son of Joseph and Mary, who wasn't a believer until after the resurrection of our Lord. Here he is with some very serious precautions about evil unbelievers who have infiltrated the Church. Their purpose is to pervert grace teaching, using it as an excuse for lasciviousness, corrupting the Body of Christ. If that was going on in the beginning of the Church, imagine how prevelant it must be now. We see it in false teachers who deny the virgin birth and the deity of Jesus Christ. They ridicule and reject the teaching of the Blood of Christ as the only way of salvation. We are reminded by Jude of the historical dealings of God with rebellious angels (Genesis ch. 6), who are now incarcerated under chains of darkness (absence of light), being held for the final judgment because of their abominable infiltration of the human race before the great flood. They crossed the line, but they will not do that again. However, there are still active demons rampant in our world, who constantly influence unbelievers to test the patience of God with their outrageous immoralities, to the point of mass destruction. It is Satan's constant game, the ongoing angelic conflict, the outcome of which we already know, but we are still living in time and are still being displayed as the people of God, who have eternal life because we trust in His perfect provision. Our purpose is far beyond our comprehension, but our Lord is leading the way. We mustn't allow ourselves to be distracted by the evil, but always contend for the faith. We can do it, because God has equipped us to walk and not faint.
