Testimony

"And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life."

I John 5:11-12


Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies."

John 11:25

"Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

John 14:6

The testimony in context here is God's own testimony concerning His Son (vss. 9-10). If one doesn't believe God, he is calling God a liar. Here it is: there is one means of eternal life, and that is by believing in the only savior, our Lord Jesus Christ. Stop trying to figure the angles. Stop arguing the fundamental goodness of man. Man is totally depraved. Stop trying to rationalize the validity of other religions. At best they are crippling legalism or mystical mumbo-jumbo. Religion is the devil's ace trump. A distraction from the one thing you need. Religion is man by man's efforts trying to gain the approbation of God. Christianity is God in His infinite mercy providing for atonement of all the sins of mankind. There is no such thing as unbelievers' good deeds outweighing bad deeds in the final judgment. The deeds, for unbelievers, are completely worthless. Their names are not in the book. God the Father made the plan. God the Son finished the work. God the Holy Spirit has given us the Word of God and the perception we need to understand what's been done for us. "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
