For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have. Philippians 1:29-30
Suffering for Christ is specific to the tribulations of a Christian who is under pressure for his testimony. We all have various adversities in life. That's life. When we carry the cross of Jesus, it means to be firm in our declaration of Jesus' finished Work as the only means of salvation. That testimony brings the wrath of the world on the believer, because of the world's hatred for the Name of Jesus. Paul had many human troubles, just as everyone will, but he was persecuted and imprisoned for one thing only: preaching Christ. We who believe could very well also be granted the privilege to suffer for Him. He will comfort us in that, just as He did Paul, even to his death.
