Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: "Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"? These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence. Colossians 2:20-23
You, saved person, have identified with Christ in his death, burial and resurrection. That is your eternal position. You are divorced from the world. The world, therefore, no longer has any claims on your conduct. Handling, tasting, touching, all are details of life. They are distractions from your objective of representing Christ in your daily walk. We who are IN CHRIST do not need to keep score. The score has been settled. We are declared righteous by the finished Work of Jesus Christ on the cross. The rules of religion do not apply to the one who reckons himself dead to sin and alive in Jesus Christ. That's forever.
