Chosen

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. I Peter 2:9-10


We are chosen IN CHRIST, those of us who have believed in Him. You see, He, The Beloved, is chosen from eternity past. We, who are IN HIM by faith in His finished work, are part of Him. His Body. Royal Family of God. Royal Priests. KJV: a peculiar people (!) meaning God's Own personal possession. That is our eternal position. Nothing can ever change that, because it is the work of God. We were called out of darkness. Once having seen the light, we can never go back. We are changed forever. We may not always behave honorably. Our flesh may even sometimes lust after the darkness; but the fact is, we now belong to the Sovereign God of the universe, the creator and redeemer of our souls. There is no going back! We, who were once nothing are now children of the King, because of His mercy. We are here to proclaim His excellencies, and even if we do not always do that, our Father remains faithful. He will never leave us nor forsake us. We are special, not because we are good, but because our Father is Almighty God. We are strangers and pilgrims in the devil's world. God provides for His Own, no matter where, no matter what. Our dark days are over. We are here to share the light.
