His Own Body

and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls. I Peter 2:24-25

This is the Gospel. Gospel=Good News. The good news is that our Lord Jesus Christ has paid the full penalty for your sins and mine, and Adam's and Eve's and Hitler's and Osama Bin Laden's and Barrabas' and Saul of Tarsus'. You get the picture. All human sins have been atoned. Sin need not rule our lives any more. We who have received Jesus are IN HIM and dead to sin. He took all our sin on Himself and gave us His Perfect Righteousness. We are now healed of our festering wounds and weaknesses of the flesh. That's what happened on His cross. Total separation from the Father and the Holy Spirit, as His perfect, sinless body was tormented under the judgment of all the sins of the whole human race. God provided for Himself a Lamb. He had to, because there was no descendant of Adam who could qualify as the sacrifice, having all been corrupted by original sin. This is the work of God. It is supernatural. It is eternal. It was an accomplished fact from eternity past. We are the benefactors of His grace, by faith in His finished work on His cross. Through this once and for all atonement, Satan was defeated and God has reclaimed His own. For our salvation, only one thing counts: belief in the perfect atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you reject Him, nothing else in your life matters. When you receive Him, everything in your life can be production for the Kingdom of God.
